Astrology A Scientific Approach

The main ideas of sharing this article is to create awareness and interest in the people at large extent that Astrology is a divine Science, irrespective of Religion or Caste.

Introduction

Before going to start into the details of Astrology, I just start with some interesting, logical and divine aspect of Astrology.

Astrology and Fate(Karma)

Astrology is very much correlated to our karma.The planets are not the cause of events but only indicate the events in life.

Our lives are ruled by karma comprising of our thoughts,words and deeds.Then the karma is translated into fate or destiny, which is again reflected in our horoscopes.

Thus Astrology and Purushartha (fate and freewill) are interlinked and both are reciprocal.

Influence by Planets

As already said planets are not the cause of events and are not the controller of one's fate, but are material entities (objects) and so these can influence only material constituents of man i.e., the Physical Body and Mind. And the Soul of Man can never be influenced by planets as Soul is part of God, not a material constituents so by strong will power, honesty, and sincere efforts one can change the curse of one's destiny and lead a happy life.

Some Assertions And Leading Conclusions About Astrology

a) Ass: Not scientific.

   Con:Astrology is a divine or spritiual science dealing with huaman avocations or behaviour,which cannot be tested or demonstrated in a laboratory like a physical science.But is a stuty of influence of planets and stars on mankind based on foreknowledge of our seers rather than intelligence(judgement).

b)Ass: Makes a man fatalistic(bleak).

   Con:Just as a doctor does not make a person ill, similarly an astrologer does mot make a person fatalistic.The aim of Astrology is to reform human behaviour and make a man good. And if  realizes one's importance of work ( here karma), will not blame fate or Astrologer.

c)Ass:No use in knowing future in advance.

  Con:If one knows his or her favourable period through astrology, the one can utilize that period more effectively.On the other hand if there is a bad period, one can take precautions to prevent adverse influences.

d)Ass:Predictions do not prove true.

   Con:There is a tendency found in people as to judge astrologer on its failure rather on its success.One    should understand that the element of error (mistake) is basic to all diciplines of human knowledge.If one is a   doctor, engineer, scientist or politician , his/her errors are ignored.But in case of an astrologer, his wrong predictions attract much publicity and fanfare.

If a particular astrologer does not predict  accurately , one can go to another, just as one goes to a doctor who cures the disease.

         As Benjamin Franklin said -"Condemnation without investigation is the highest Ignorance"

e)Ass:In case of many death at a place at one time ( such as when the atom bomb fell on Hiroshima lakhs of people died in a moment, similarly on account of cyclone, floods, accidents several hundred people die every year ),but the Horoscopes of all people do not indicate the same death.

  Con:Here one should understand that in such cases instead of individual horoscope, the horoscope of the country or the ruler of the country should be studied in place of individual horoscopes.

Rise And Fall Of Astrology

 Astrology was held in high esteem and rose to the apex during Gupta period (300 AD) in Indian history.

 The  main reason for its decline ws the loss of independence of India. Hindu religion and astrology are interlinked. The invaders destroyed the observatories,libraries and ancient manuscripts written on palm leaf (bhojapatra).So there was no progress of research in Astronomy and astrology.

Secondly due to the impact of western thought, materialism and physical sciences were given more importance than spiritualism. So astrology as a spritual science was declined and considered unscientific.

Astrology  is the eye of Veda.Vedanta ( the essence of Vedas ) talks of only Moksha.But it also tells us about materialistic world.

My own experience shows that

"Astrology provides the forecasts to step up good fate and to check bad, if any, by performing ritual etc."
